The kind of childhood i'm trying to create

I know my kids probably won’t remember every toy, every cleaned room, or every stressful day…

but I hope they remember the little things.

Summer evenings outside ☀️

Fish stories and dirty shoes 🎣

Baseball games and snack breaks ⚾

Movie nights on the couch 🍿

Laughter with their siblings 🤍

And always feeling safe, loved, and at home.

That’s the kind of childhood I’m trying to create.

... Read moreReflecting on the kind of childhood I want to create, I realize how the simplest moments often leave the most lasting impressions. It’s not about the perfect toys or spotless rooms but rather the experiences that shape a child’s sense of security and happiness. From personal experience, lazy summer evenings spent outside watching the sunset can become treasured memories. I remember encouraging my children to embrace the messiness of outdoor play—dirty shoes and all—because it meant they were exploring, learning, and growing free. One of my fondest parenting moments has been attending local baseball games with my kids. The crack of the bat, the cheering crowd, and those essential snack breaks create not just fun but a shared family rhythm that kids remember well. These outings remind me to slow down and cherish the present, much like the #slowmotherhood and #peacefulliving movements inspire us to do. Movie nights on the couch are another ritual we hold dear, offering comfort and cozy moments that foster sibling bonding and laughter. These quiet evenings reinforce the feeling of home as a safe haven where children are loved unconditionally. Ultimately, what matters most is building an environment where children feel encouraged to follow their passions and be themselves. Whether they’re spinning tales of their day’s adventures or simply running wild outside until sunset, these moments accumulate into a childhood filled with love, joy, and confidence. Building this meaningful childhood demands patience and presence—a commitment to prioritizing experiences over perfection. By embracing the little joys—fish stories, backyard exploration, and shared family activities—we create lasting memories that children will carry with them long after they’ve outgrown the toys and tidy rooms.

Emotional closeness goes way beyond anything physical. Some people can be physically intimate without ever opening up their heart or mind. I used to be like that. I had walls stacked way higher than I realized, and honestly… I’m still working on them. Now it’s the opposite for me. I struggle to

Behind every struggle is a story that deserves empathy, not judgment. 🗣️ For so many, addiction isn’t about chasing a "high"—it’s about trying to silence the echoes of a painful past. When childhood trauma leaves you in a world that feels unsafe or unkind, escaping the nightmares becomes a full-tim
