Confidence is a fickle bitch

But finding ways to push past those feelings is incredibly liberating, because 'not living life the way you want to is harder.' I totally relate to those moments of doubt when trying on outfits or stepping out. That's why I've started doing a sort of 'brain dump' for all my outfit and body image worries. For me, a 'brain dump' means taking a few minutes to just write down every single thought or insecurity that pops into my head about my appearance or how I project myself. Sometimes it's about a specific outfit, sometimes it's about my general 'character' or how I perceive myself. Once it's all out on paper, it feels less overwhelming and more manageable. It’s like clearing out mental clutter so you can focus on building up the confident 'character' you want to be. The original tip about wearing clothes around the house is golden! It’s a fantastic way to physically 'test' your comfort and how an outfit moves with your body. It helps you get familiar with the fabric, the fit, and how it really feels to embody that look. I've found that this simple practice helps me 'brain dump' any last-minute anxieties before I even leave the house. By the time I step out, I’m not just wearing clothes; I’m wearing confidence. Beyond just the physical aspect, I’ve also layered this with a mental 'brain dump' process. Before I go out, especially if I'm feeling nervous, I'll quickly jot down what I love about my outfit and how it makes me *feel*. This is a mini 'brain dump' of positive affirmations. It helps reinforce the positive 'character' I want to project and drowns out the inner critic. Another thing I've learned through this 'brain dump' approach is to identify the different 'characters' or narratives that play out in my head. There’s the 'doubtful character' who worries about what others think, and then there's the 'empowered character' who just wants to live their life fully. By acknowledging these 'characters' through a quick mental or written 'brain dump', I can consciously choose to amplify the empowered one. It’s about being kind to yourself and understanding that confidence isn't about perfection, but about embracing your unique self and learning to love the different 'characters' that make you, YOU. So, if you're struggling with outfit confidence or just generally feeling a bit insecure, try this 'brain dump' method. Whether it’s physically moving in your clothes at home, journaling your anxieties away, or focusing on positive self-talk, it's all about making that conscious effort. Believe me, finding your confidence is so worth it. Remember what they say: 'CONFIDENCE Is hard. But not living life the way you want to is harder.' Let's choose to live our lives fully and confidently, one outfit and one 'brain dump' at a time!
