Mindful About My Body
**Mentions of weightloss & ED**
First picture is me now and the second picture is me end of 2022 or beginning of 2023.
In 2022 I got sent to a Residential Eating Disorder facility. Basically a long term medical stay. I struggled with Otherwise Specified Eating Disorder (OSED) for most of my life. I struggle with getting myself to eat due to my ED brain and I have bad reactions to different textures and tastes. Normally called ARFID.
I did not realize I had a problem until the therapist I started seeing took in my symptoms and questioned my eating habits. Let’s just say I was not eating enough. I am very glad I went to Residential. It was traumatic but it really did help. (I also met my best friend there.) You will gain weight at treatment. It is very necessary for treatment.
99.99% of people I met there were so loving and we encouraged each other. That was so meaningful because I never really had positive friends growing up. Looking like me is most people with ED’s worst nightmare. 🙃 They never made me feel that way. We were a family who supported one another. ( I have a lot of tips to make yourself more comfortable while you’re there.)
I have been getting a better hold of my ED. I am working with my Dr. to lose weight safely and mindfully. I have lost a good bit since July.
Majority of diet culture is ED provoking and damaging. Mindful eating and mindful movement has been such a wonderful change. It is so much easier on my chronically ill body and towards healing myself.
I personally believe that weight loss is NOT the end all be all for being happy and healthy. But being mindful with yourself and giving yourself grace is so wonderful.
This is not well thought or written at all. 🤷🏻♀️idc
