Why I am putting this book on my DNF list

✨GUYS- my first ever DNF!!! ✨

But hear me out….I had a goal to read at least one book of each author I was planning on seeing for the Romantasy Con in Orlando in October. With so many books and so little time. I had to make the decision to move on from this series and get started with new authors.

⏭️Next I’m going to be reading The Spell Shop by Sarah Beth Durst! I’m so excited to read this- also nervous. I definitely judged this book by the cover and it might look ~too~ whimsical for me but I’m ready to try it!

(& who’s to say I won’t circle back and read both??👀)Florida

... Read moreDeciding to DNF (Did Not Finish) a book can be a tough choice, especially when you're passionate about reading and meeting new authors. For many book lovers, like myself, the pressure to finish every book can feel overwhelming, but sometimes moving on is the healthiest choice for your reading journey. When preparing for the Romantasy Con in Orlando, I set a personal goal to sample works from every author I planned to see there. Time is limited, and with so many amazing books out there, prioritizing became essential. This meant putting some series on hold, even if I enjoyed parts of them, to expand my horizons and explore fresh voices. One such book I put down is Sarah Beth Durst's The Spell Shop. Despite its whimsical cover giving off a fairy-tale vibe that initially made me hesitate, my curiosity won out. Durst is known for her imaginative storytelling, blending magic and memorable characters, so I’m both excited and a bit nervous to dive into her work. Sometimes a cover can influence first impressions, but it’s worth remembering that genuine magic lies within the pages. DNF-ing doesn’t mean abandoning a book forever. It’s about making space for new experiences and sometimes circling back with fresh eyes. The world of Romantasy is vast—from enchanting romance to magical quests—and trying different authors enriches the reading adventure. Whether you’re attending conventions or just exploring from home, mixing up your reading list can introduce you to unexpected favorites. Remember, reading is personal and flexible. Embracing the DNF option can help prevent burnout and keeps your love for books alive. Keep exploring, keep discovering, and don’t be afraid to shift gears when needed. After all, the joy of reading is in the journey as much as the destination.

My first book on my DNF list
I’d never believed I could put a book on a DNF list. I’m one of those people that could start watching a crappy movie, and I’ll watch it until the end just because I feel like I already invested time in starting it and now I gotta see it through. So naturally I would feel that way about books too.
