Spring layered brownies 🌸
My favorite brownies 😍
* Put the sugar cookie on the bottom first then the Oreo. I did it backwards while filming bc I had a brain fart 🫠 and didn’t want to re-do them so that’s why they’re sunken in lol. Still tasted AMAZING tho!
Then bake according to what the brownie box instructions are!
Oh my gosh, layered brownies are such a game-changer! I absolutely adore how you get different textures and flavors in every bite. When I made these spring layered brownies, I learned a few things the hard way, but hey, that's baking, right? For perfect layers, I usually start with the denser dough on the bottom, like a regular brownie batter, then add my sugar cookie or Oreo layer. If you use store-bought cookie dough, chilling it slightly before layering can make it much easier to handle and less likely to sink into the brownie batter. Just press it gently but firmly into an even layer over the base. To avoid the 'sunken in' look I mentioned in my original post (we've all been there!), make sure your brownie batter isn't too hot when you add the next layer. Also, try not to overload your pan. Sometimes, less is more when it comes to thickness, ensuring each layer cooks evenly without overwhelming the others. If you're using something like an Oreo, a single layer pressed flat works wonders. For spring and Easter, I love using pastel-colored sugar cookie dough, or even cutting out cute chick or bunny shapes from the dough before laying them on top of the brownie batter. It makes them super festive! Getting the perfect bake is key for layered brownies. I always follow the brownie box instructions for temperature, but I adjust the time slightly. Because you have extra layers, it might take a few minutes longer than usual. To check for doneness, I gently insert a toothpick into the brownie part. If it comes out with moist crumbs, it's usually ready. If it's still wet batter, give it a few more minutes. The cookie layer might still be soft, which is totally fine – it will firm up as it cools. Cooling completely is SO important before cutting! I know it's hard to wait, but trying to cut warm layered brownies often leads to a messy, crumbly disaster. Pop them in the fridge for an hour or two if you're really impatient for clean slices. This also helps the flavors meld beautifully. Beyond sugar cookies and Oreos, the possibilities are endless! Imagine a peanut butter cup layer, or even a cheesecake swirl in your brownies. For other holidays, you could swap out the sugar cookie for gingerbread dough in winter, or red velvet for Valentine's Day. Once they're baked and cooled, a drizzle of white chocolate or a sprinkle of spring-themed sprinkles can elevate these brownies even further. I sometimes dust them with powdered sugar through a stencil for a pretty pattern. Trust me, these layered treats are always a crowd-pleaser and look so impressive with minimal effort!
