Supporting my local arts! 🎭 If you are in the Eustis or Mount Dora area, check out the #baystreetplayers! #localtheatre #communitytheatre #percyjackson #centralflorida
Attending the Bay Street Players’ production of The Lightning Thief was truly a memorable experience. This local theater group, situated just north of Mount Dora in a charming vaudeville-style venue dating back to the 1920s, offers not just entertainment but also a glimpse into Florida’s cultural heritage. The setting alone, right next to Lake Eustis, with picturesque sunsets, made the evening even more special. What stood out was the dedication and talent of the community actors involved. Many cast members were familiar faces from previous local events and conventions like MegaCon Orlando, creating a welcoming sense of community. The props and costumes were thoughtfully crafted, showcasing the group’s creativity and hard work. For instance, I was fascinated by the detailed wig bases wired for effects and the intricate mache props that added depth and realism to the performance. Beyond the show, this experience inspired me to explore more local small art galleries, museums, and live theater performances in Central Florida. Supporting local arts not only nurtures the region’s creative spirit but also helps maintain historical venues and provides opportunities for emerging artists. If you happen to be in the Eustis or Mount Dora area, I highly recommend checking their schedule for upcoming shows and immersing yourself in the vibrant local arts scene. It’s a rewarding way to engage with culture, celebrate community talent, and witness the passion behind live theatre firsthand.
