“You’re Too Much”

If you are an analytical, high-capacity, strong-willed woman, you’ve likely spent a lifetime feeling like your volume, your standards, and your ambition are a localized structural hazard.

But here is how the trap snaps shut: When you internalize the idea that you are a burden to hold, your nervous system treats someone else's selection as a sigh of relief. You stop auditing their capacity because you’re too busy being grateful they looked at your vastness and said, "I can handle that."

Being "The Prize" is just a beautiful cage that allows you to tolerate low-integrity behavior while you subsidize someone else's potential.

We are completely out of the shrinking business. It’s time to demand a co-architect.

... Read moreAs someone who identifies as a strong-willed, analytical woman, the feeling of being "too much" in relationships is real and often exhausting. It's common to internalize that your high standards, ambition, and intensity might overwhelm others, leading you to settle for less than you deserve just because you’re grateful to be chosen. This survival mindset often causes one to overlook important qualities like integrity and stability in a partner, simply to avoid the loneliness of rejection. I’ve personally cycled through similar relationship archetypes: the competitor who seemed like a prize but lacked true emotional availability; the burdened provider who couldn’t sustain his role during tough times; and the audacious consumer who questioned what maturity or stability truly looked like. Each relationship highlighted the pattern of subsidizing another’s potential while diminishing my own needs and worth. Breaking this cycle begins with redefining what partnership means. It isn't about rescuing or validating oneself through another person's choice, nor is it about shrinking for the sake of compatibility. Instead, it is about finding a co-architect—a partner who matches your capacity and ambition, who shares in creating a legacy rather than simply receiving one. This requires intentionally setting boundaries and auditing your own contributions and limits. Demanding equal partnership means accepting that discomfort is part of growth. Expecting discipline, consistency, and integrity from a partner is not asking too much; it’s necessary for mutual evolution. When both people bring their whole selves to the table, with no apology for their size or complexity, the relationship transcends survival and becomes a dynamic collaboration. This mindset shift has transformed the way I approach relationships. I've learned to value mutual respect and accountability over just being "chosen." Each setback or mismatch became an opportunity to refine what I truly want and can offer. If you relate, remember that your "volume" and depth are strengths, not liabilities. When you stop shrinking yourself and start seeking a partner who complements your vastness, you create space for a fulfilling, resilient connection that honors both your ambitions and your well-being.
