Strangers celebrate you more genuinely
In my experience, the phrase "your biggest fan is a stranger" holds a lot of truth. Often, people who don't know us well can offer encouragement and celebration without the baggage of bias or complicated emotions. I’ve noticed that strangers, especially those who connect with your achievements or kindness without personal history, celebrate your success more sincerely because they aren't influenced by jealousy, past misunderstandings, or unspoken expectations. On the other hand, it’s common for those closest to us—family, friends, colleagues—to sometimes be our harshest critics or even unintentionally the biggest haters. This isn’t necessarily because they wish us harm but might stem from their own insecurities, protective instincts, or perceptions shaped by familiarity. It can be painful to realize that support from your inner circle might not always feel genuine. This insight has taught me the importance of choosing your circle carefully. Surrounding yourself with people who truly uplift, rather than just tolerate or compete with you, profoundly affects your mental and emotional well-being. Engaging with communities or individuals who cheer for you regardless of your background or history encourages growth and confidence. From a personal standpoint, embracing support from strangers—such as online communities or new acquaintances—has brought unexpected encouragement. These are the people who celebrate milestones, offer kind words, and motivate me without judgment. It feels refreshing and authentic. If you’ve ever felt weighed down by "fake support" or felt your closest circle was less supportive, remember that genuine celebration can come from unexpected places. It’s a reminder to stay aware and value those who celebrate your success wholeheartedly, whether they know you or not.
