From my experience advocating for disability rights and inclusive education, I've witnessed firsthand how creating equitable spaces not only benefits individuals with disabilities but enriches entire communities. Inclusive education, for example, ensures that students with diverse learning needs receive the support and resources necessary to thrive alongside their peers. This approach fosters understanding and empathy from a young age, breaking down barriers and challenging stereotypes. Advocating for disability rights also means sharing stories and experiences that highlight the challenges faced and the resilience shown by the disability community. Whether it’s fighting for accessible public spaces or promoting policies that remove systemic obstacles, every effort counts towards a more just society. The phrase "DEI is so back baby" captures the current momentum around these values. Despite the challenges, there is a powerful movement pushing for more inclusive practices in workplaces, schools, and communities. From a personal perspective, even celebrating DEI in everyday life—whether through events, discussions, or social media—helps keep these important conversations alive and fosters a sense of belonging. While dancing might not be my forte, celebrating DEI means actively participating, learning, and advocating wherever possible. It’s about showing up with intention, acknowledging different perspectives, and working collectively towards equity. This journey isn’t always easy, but the progress made by embracing DEI principles is both inspiring and necessary for a fairer world.
