One of the biggest signs of religious or spiritual narcissism?
They call your boundaries disrespect.
They call your healing rebellion.
They call your self-trust selfish.
Because control systems panic when you stop participating.
You are not becoming difficult.
You are becoming free.
And freedom always threatens manipulation.
Choose peace anyway.

From my own experience, recognizing religious or spiritual narcissism can be challenging because it often masquerades as devoutness or spiritual guidance. One of the critical red flags is how they respond to healthy boundaries. When I started asserting my limits, I was shocked to hear my healing described as rebellion and my self-trust labeled selfish. This mirroring of boundary-setting as negative behavior is a common tactic used by control systems embedded within some spiritual communities. It's important to understand that these reactions come from a place of panic within the manipulative system, which fears losing control over you. The phrase "if setting boundaries makes them call you 'ungodly', you're not the problem" really resonated with me. It helped me realize that the discomfort was not mine to bear but rather the symptom of the system's resistance to change. Choosing peace in this context means embracing your freedom rather than allowing manipulation to dictate your spiritual journey. It’s a process of reclaiming your autonomy and understanding that refusing to participate in toxic control dynamics is an act of self-love and growth. By sharing this, I hope others struggling with similar experiences know they are not alone and that stepping away from such control systems opens the door to authentic healing and freedom.
