When I planned my recent quick weekend getaway to Seattle, one place kept popping up on everyone's must-see list: Chihuly Garden and Glass! If you're wondering, like I was, about 'chihuly hours' and how to best fit it into your trip, I’ve got some personal tips to share from my own amazing experience. Why Chihuly Garden and Glass is a Must-Visit First off, let me tell you, this place is absolutely breathtaking. Dale Chihuly's glass art is truly unique, and seeing it displayed in the Glasshouse and throughout the outdoor gardens is an unforgettable experience. It’s not just art; it’s an immersive journey of color and light. I spent ages just wandering through the different exhibits, marveling at the intricate details and vibrant pieces. It's truly a highlight of any trip to downtown Seattle. Finding Chihuly Garden and Glass Hours To make sure you don't miss out, checking the official Chihuly Garden and Glass website (chihulygardenandglass.com) for their most up-to-date operating hours is always the best bet. They sometimes have seasonal changes or special event hours, so a quick check before you go can save you any disappointment. Generally, they open around 10 AM and close anywhere from 5 PM to 7 PM, but this can vary. I found that visiting earlier in the morning right after opening, or later in the afternoon, helped me avoid the biggest crowds. This is especially helpful if you're trying to pack a lot into just '24 Hours in Seattle'! Tips for Your Visit Tickets: I highly recommend buying your tickets online in advance. It saves time waiting in line, especially on busy weekend days. They often offer combination tickets with the Space Needle right next door, which is a fantastic deal if you plan to visit both! Best Time to Go: As I mentioned, early morning or late afternoon can be less crowded. Also, visiting on a clear day allows the outdoor installations to truly sparkle, but the indoor exhibits are stunning regardless of the weather. The Glasshouse is particularly magical when the sun streams through. Photography: This place is a photographer's dream! You’re allowed to take photos (without flash), so bring your camera. The reflections and colors are incredible. I got some of my favorite travel photos here. Combine with Other Attractions: Chihuly Garden and Glass is located right at the Seattle Center, literally steps away from the Space Needle and the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP). It’s perfect for creating a packed itinerary for your '24 Hours in Seattle' or a quick weekend trip. I found it super easy to walk between these attractions. Accessibility: The entire experience is very accessible, which is great for everyone in your traveling party. Beyond Chihuly: Maximizing Your Seattle Day Trip After immersing yourself in Chihuly's art, you're perfectly positioned to explore more of downtown Seattle. I loved taking the Monorail from Seattle Center straight to Westlake Center for some shopping and to easily get to Pike Place Market. Grabbing some fresh seafood or just soaking in the bustling atmosphere there is another classic Seattle experience. If you have more time, a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island offers stunning skyline views and a charming small-town escape. My quick weekend getaway to Seattle was unforgettable, and Chihuly Garden and Glass was definitely a highlight. By planning just a little bit, especially checking those 'chihuly hours,' you can ensure a smooth and awe-inspiring visit to this incredible city!
