I think a lot of us are performing, but we’re just not saying it

1 week agoEdited to

... Read moreIn today's digital age, many of us find ourselves caught in the cycle of 'performing' on social media without even realizing it. This performance isn't just about entertaining others; it's about curating a version of ourselves that feels acceptable, successful, or relatable to an often invisible audience. I’ve noticed that the pressure to maintain this performance can be mentally exhausting and emotionally draining. The phrase from the image, "I don't want to perform for the internet anymore," resonates deeply because it acknowledges the weariness behind constantly presenting a polished external image. For some, the online presence becomes a mask that hides their true feelings, aspirations, and struggles. Like the line, "it was, but it didn’t like mine," some may feel their genuine selves don't fit the expected narrative or don't receive the validation they seek online. From personal experience, stepping away from this performance mode has been liberating. It allowed me to embrace imperfections and share content that is more honest and vulnerable. I’ve found that when I stop trying to meet unrealistic expectations, I connect more deeply with others who appreciate authenticity. Sharing real emotions, challenges, and successes fosters meaningful conversations and community support, which is far more fulfilling than mere likes or superficial engagement. Moreover, acknowledging this performance dynamic encourages a healthier relationship with social media. It helps remind us that behind every post, there’s a person, often grappling with the same feelings of doubt and pressure. The key takeaway is that it’s okay to be yourself online, to skip the 'performance,' and to prioritize your mental well-being over internet approval. Real connection starts with authenticity, not perfection.

I know some people are going to be upset about my opinions on New York but it’s my opinion 🤷🏻‍♀️ Sedona : This is genuinely one of the most beautiful places I’ve been to in my life! I really like the outdoors, but even if you don’t there a bunch of cute shops located right in the center of town
