Superman: The Book of El 3 has my Heart!

It’s New Comic Book Day!

Today I read Adventure of Superman: Book of El 3 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Scott Godlewski, and Alex Guimarães

⭐️Overall rating: 4/5: PKJ knocks it out of the park again. I love his take on Superman, he just gets how much he likes to help. It’s so simple, but it means so much. I also love how much Superman loves being a father, him talking about his kids nearly made me cry. Godlewski’s art was perfectly expressive and lively with Guimarães’ colors. The Brainiac design is top tier. The final letter by Lois Lane made me eager for the next issue. Superman fans, you need to pick this up!!

... Read moreSuperman: The Book of El #3 continues to impress readers with its unique blend of emotional storytelling and captivating visuals. This issue highlights Superman's unwavering commitment to his role as both a hero and a father, offering readers a compelling look at his personal side rarely explored in superhero comics. Phillip Kennedy Johnson’s writing emphasizes Superman's simple yet profound desire to help others, which resonates deeply with longtime fans and new readers alike. One standout element in this issue is the expressive and lively artwork by Scott Godlewski, complemented perfectly by Alex Guimarães' vibrant coloring. The visual storytelling elevates key moments, particularly in scenes showcasing Superman interacting with his children. These tender moments not only humanize the Man of Steel but also add layers of depth to his character, making the narrative more relatable and heartfelt. Another highlight is the innovative redesign of Brainiac, which brings a fresh and menacing look to this iconic villain. This modernized portrayal adds a thrilling edge to the ongoing storyline and sets the stage for intense conflicts ahead. The emotional impact is further enhanced by the final letter from Lois Lane, which adds anticipation for subsequent issues and enriches the narrative with a personal touch. Fans of the Superman saga will find this issue particularly rewarding, as it balances action, family dynamics, and character development seamlessly. Overall, Superman: The Book of El #3 stands out as a powerful chapter in the series, blending superhero excitement with genuine emotional stakes. It underscores the importance of family and the sometimes unseen burdens of being a hero. Whether you're a dedicated DC fan or a newcomer, this issue offers an engaging and meaningful experience that reaffirms Superman’s enduring appeal.
