Wedding expenses that shock almost every couple 😭

6/8 Edited to

... Read moreWhen I planned my wedding, I quickly realized that the listed costs for venues and services were just the tip of the iceberg. One major surprise was the service fees and gratuity many venues automatically add—sometimes 20-30%. It’s crucial to ask about these charges before signing any contracts. Another expense that caught me off guard was bridal alterations. Depending on the dress and number of fittings, alterations can easily range from $300 to $1,000 or more. Planning for these costs saved me from last-minute stress. Guestbook setups also tend to be overlooked. Physical and audio guestbooks can be pricey, with rentals ranging from $300 to $800. I opted for a digital guestbook app which was not only affordable but also made collecting messages convenient and fun for guests. Rentals are another area where costs add up quickly. Chairs, linens, plates, candles, dance floors—all those little details can inflate your budget if you don’t plan ahead. Additionally, postage for invitations and RSVP cards, especially for large weddings, can reach hundreds of dollars. My advice: create a detailed budget spreadsheet that includes these hidden costs and update it regularly. Communicate openly with your vendors about all potential fees and consider digital alternatives for extras like guestbooks to save money. While weddings can be expensive, anticipating these hidden expenses can help you avoid financial surprises and enjoy your special day fully.
