This is what love looks like 🫶
I would like to introduce you to the love of my life, my soulmate, my split apart: Jason Petroff.
I first saw Jason when I was 6 years old; I was in first grade and he was in third. I got butterflies in my stomach immediately. Since I was horribly shy, I couldn’t talk to him.
As a little girl I would ask the man in the moon to make him like me. When I was a teenager he began to notice me, or I just noticed that he noticed 🤣. We always looked for each other and had some serious flirting as teenagers. He was always the one I wanted to date.
After he graduated in ‘94 he took off to live his life. I didn’t see him again until 2002, I had graduated from college and was working at the community college. I saw him walk past me one time but I was still too shy to even speak and the butterflies 🦋 in my stomach went wild again just at the sight of him. That was the last time I saw him.
A year later I got married. One year after that I became a mom to the most wonderful son in this world, my Declan. By January, 2007 I was a single mom. The marriage and divorce is a separate horror story.
I lived the next 14 years as a single mom. I worked in several different counseling roles and read beautiful books and worked hard to be the person I chose to be. I buckled down hard and beat my shyness. It was hard work but I succeeded.
In 2018 the most wonderful thing happened out of nowhere like things usually do. My sister and I were sitting in our parent’s living room on our iPhones and she just turned her head to me and asked: “Would you go out with Jason Petroff?” I don’t think I have ever said YES!! so fast in my life!
Jaspon and I started chatting over Facebook Messenger that day in November just a week after my 40th birthday. I couldn’t take waiting so I asked him out 😂. A first for me. I had never asked a guy out before that. The next day we went out on the most incredible first date of all time. It was perfect. There was a connection between us that was so strong we couldn’t stand to be apart.
After that date we knew we wanted to be together and just enjoy life. When Covid hit we were locked down separately. It nearly killed us both. Messenger was all we had to stay connected and video chat was filled with tears for us both. I sent him voice messages filled with as much joy as I could muster and he sent me videos and voice messages singing and playing guitar.
When the lockdown was over and we could be together again we couldn’t stop just hugging and holding each other. That was when we decided we wanted to live together and what a difficult move that was 😣. We couldn’t find a place near our then living situations but finally we decided we needed to make a new life together away from where we were and make it all our own. So, we moved into the house Jason owned in Beckley and we made the move on July first in 2021.
The work has been hard but our little home is all ours. We are proud parents of our blended family with my son (19 now) and Jason’s two beautiful daughters aged 16 and 14.
On Monday, we are finally getting married. No big ceremony, just the legal requirements because all we want is to be married. I can’t wait to be married to my handsome, sexy, protective, intelligent, and incredible love of my life.

I made this post to share with everyone that it is possible to find your person and it doesn’t matter how old you are because real love can be found anywhere and never let it go when you are faced with difficulties because those difficulties only make you stronger and happier when you have pushed through them together.
