A DAY IN THE LIFE OF MY PETs

It's been such an adventure watching my two poodle-mix dogs, Pucci and Piru, navigate their daily life together! When we first decided to get Piru, our reddish-brown puppy, I knew it would be a big change for Pucci, our light-colored older girl. Introducing a new puppy, especially one with as much boundless energy as Piru, can be a real test of patience for an established dog. I remember reading so many articles about how to properly introduce them, and honestly, it’s been a mix of planned efforts and just letting them figure it out. Pucci, who’s turning two this year, initially seemed a bit overwhelmed by Piru's 11-week-old puppy antics. I mean, who wouldn't be? Piru is a whirlwind! We tried to make sure Pucci always had a safe space to retreat to, and we gave them plenty of supervised playtime. It was so rewarding to see them slowly start to bond. At first, Pucci would just tolerate Piru's attempts to play, but now, watching them chase each other around the house and even share a nap on the brown blanket is just the sweetest thing. Managing Piru’s puppy energy is a full-time job, though! Like the OCR mentions, our mornings start early. Dad lets them out around 8 a.m., and it's zoomies galore! For anyone thinking of getting an energetic poodle-mix puppy like Piru, be prepared for lots of play. We’ve found that a good mix of mental stimulation (like puzzle toys) and physical exercise (daily walks, fetch) helps wear her out. Otherwise, she'll decide that dad's stringy things are the best toys, as she did around 12:30 p.m. one day! Mealtime is another adventure, especially as the OCR highlights Piru’s habit of finishing her food then moving onto Pucci’s! We’ve had to implement separate feeding stations to make sure Pucci gets to eat her fill without Piru stealing her kibble. It’s a common puppy trait, but definitely something to manage to avoid any food aggression issues down the line. It's all part of the learning curve with two dogs! By the afternoon, usually around 1 p.m., Piru finally starts to wind down. She loves cuddling with me on the patterned blanket after a morning of energetic play. And Pucci? She's often found taking a peaceful nap on her mat around 1:30 p.m., probably just happy for a moment of quiet away from her little sister! It’s these moments of calm and affection that truly make all the puppy chaos worth it. Living with these two poodle-mix dogs has its challenges, but the joy and love they bring to our home are immeasurable. Every day is truly a day in their adventurous lives, and I wouldn't trade it for anything!
