OC Sketches + A OC WIP 🩶

Hey everyone! Seeing my own OC sketches, like the ones I just dumped, always reminds me how much fun and how rewarding the original character creation process can be. If you've ever wanted to dive into creating your own 'oc outlines' or just improve your character art, I wanted to share a few things I've learned along the way. First off, don't be afraid to start with a simple pencil sketch. For characters like Syra, 'The Ruler of The Sin,' I find that getting the basic form, gesture, and pose down first is crucial. Before I even pick up my pencil, I often think about their personality – are they contemplative, shy, powerful, or perhaps a blend? This initial concept helps guide the overall silhouette and how they interact with their surroundings, like standing next to a large flower. When sketching out clothes, think about how they drape and express the character. For one of my OCs, I loved giving her a flowing dress with a halo-like shape behind her head – it instantly adds a mystical vibe. Or sometimes it's as simple as a cozy sweater dress for a more grounded feel. Don't forget the hair: long braids or curly hair can really define a unique look, and glasses can add so much character to their face. Details really bring them to life, and I often spend extra time on hands and expressions. A close-up of a character's face with a hand gently touching their temple can convey a thoughtful or slightly pained expression, adding depth to your character's story. And why not add a little magic? Maybe they're holding a cloud shape or stars, or have a distinct flower-like symbol on their forehead – these elements are what make your original character truly unique. I also love incorporating props, like a glowing object in her hand. These small touches can enhance the narrative of your sketch. Remember, every OC, whether they're wearing a dress with moon and star details or just a simple outfit, has a story to tell. My advice is to keep practicing your pencil sketch techniques and don't be afraid to experiment with different ideas and see what feels right for your character.
