Easy date ideas for college students

Sometimes it can be hard to find ideas to do with your s/o so here are some ideas that my boyfriend and I have done.

1. Went to natural springs- in Florida we have a lot of natural springs. If there is anything cool like that near your school you should definitely check it out with you s/o.

2. Sporting events - my boyfriend and I are very into sports so we like to go watch a lot and it’s a really fun environment! We live near a big city so it’s easy to go to professional games but we also attend a lot of our school games!

3. Concerts- concerts may be hard to find near your school but sometimes it’s worth the distance! It’s a super fun way to spend time with someone you love!

4. Sporting activities- my boyfriend and I are very athletic and we like to do a bunch of sporting activities. Here are some ideas! :

- golfing

- pickle ball

- tennis

5. Sporting activities for fun: we do partake in some sporting activities where I’ll be bad and he’ll be good or vise versa but it’s still super fun! Here are some more sporting activities:

- ice skating

- skiing

- surfing

6. Parties - we like to have fun and partying is fun! So if we’re staying at a fun hotel we will go to the pool party! If there’s a party on campus we will go!

7. Nature walks - these are super calm and relaxing ways to spend time! We have a bunch of trails and nature preserves near school. So we like to go and watch the sun set or just get out steps in!

I hope you like these ideas! Comment if you would like to see more or have any other ideas!

... Read moreNavigating the college dating scene can definitely feel like a challenge, especially when you're trying to plan a first date that's both fun and won't break the bank. Trust me, I've been there! It's all about finding those sweet spots that offer a relaxed atmosphere for getting to know someone without the pressure of a hefty price tag. Based on my own experiences and what my friends and I have found successful, here are some more ideas and deeper dives into making those first (or any!) college dates fantastic. One of the best places to start looking for cheap and good first date ideas is right on or around your campus. Many universities host a surprising number of events that are either free or heavily discounted for students. Think about it: a campus concert, a gallery opening at the art department, or even a casual walk through scenic campus trails can provide a perfect backdrop for conversation. It’s low-pressure, convenient, and shows a bit of ingenuity. I’ve found that just grabbing a coffee or an iced tea at a campus cafe and taking a stroll can be incredibly effective. You get to see the campus, chat, and if things go well, you can extend it to check out a cool building or a study spot you both like. For those who love the outdoors, embracing nature is almost always a budget-friendly win. My boyfriend and I love exploring, and if you have natural springs, lakes, or even small waterfalls nearby, those make for stunning and memorable dates. Even if it's just a local nature park or a botanical garden, the fresh air and beautiful scenery create a relaxed vibe that encourages genuine conversation. Pack a couple of snacks and some water, and you’ve got yourself a cheap and charming outing. The OCR mentioned going to a natural park near your school – like springs, lakes or waterfalls – which is absolutely spot on for a memorable, low-cost date. Another fantastic category for first dates that we’ve enjoyed are activity-based dates that aren't overly intense. Think about something that allows for interaction but also provides a natural break in conversation. Mini-golf (if there’s a cheap course nearby), bowling, or even ice skating (especially if your campus or a local rink has student nights) are perfect. These activities give you something to focus on together, spark laughter, and reduce the awkward silences that can sometimes happen on a first date. The OCR mentioned ice skating and even golfing – if you can find an affordable driving range or mini-golf, it’s a blast! It’s less about who’s good and more about having fun together. Sporting events, particularly campus ones, are another excellent option. Cheering on your school's basketball, football, or baseball team creates a shared experience and instant camaraderie. The atmosphere is usually lively, and the tickets are often very affordable for students. It gives you plenty to talk about (the game, the crowd, your favorite players) without having to carry the full weight of the conversation yourself. Plus, it’s a great way to show some school spirit! Finally, don't underestimate the power of a simple plan. Sometimes, the best first dates are just about connecting. A coffee or tea date is a classic for a reason – it’s low commitment, easy to extend if you’re hitting it off, and very affordable. You can easily find a cozy spot off-campus or try out a local coffee shop you've both been wanting to visit. The key is to pick a place where you can comfortably talk and hear each other. Remember, the goal of a first date isn't to impress with extravagance, but to see if there's a spark and if you enjoy spending time together. Focus on good conversation and genuine interest, and you’ll be set for a successful, inexpensive, and fun college date!
