"But you survived and it made you stronger.." #therightmoveforward
Dealing with trauma is often an invisible battle, as highlighted by the powerful phrase, "But you survived and it made you stronger." I've personally experienced how trauma disrupts sleep, causes nightmares, and heightens anxiety, leaving a restless mind and a racing heart late at night. These symptoms can create a feeling of war inside, despite an outward appearance of calm and peace. What has helped me cope through these struggles is developing a nightly routine that focuses on grounding techniques. Deep breathing exercises and mindfulness meditation have been invaluable in calming my heart rate and quieting distressing thoughts before bed. Establishing a consistent sleep schedule also made a difference in reducing the frequency of nightmares. Another important aspect of healing is finding safe spaces to express what’s happening inside — whether through journaling, speaking with trusted friends, or seeking professional support. Isolation can intensify pain, but opening up can foster connection and understanding. I’ve realized that survival is not just about getting through difficult moments but also about growing stronger from them. While the inner turmoil may persist, each small step towards self-care and vulnerability contributes to reclaiming peace and building resilience. Remember, healing is a journey unique to each person, and acknowledging your strength in facing these challenges is a vital part of moving forward.
