Saddle Channel Facts to Know Not to Confuse
Saddle Compartment: Reclaimed the poached part, but did not hold 100% of the total area.
1. The saddle channel is located in the area of the Standing Water House, Group 6, Soong District, Standing Water District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, with a basin between two hills, similar to the saddle, so it is called the "saddle channel."
According to the 1: 50,000 map and the water supply that Thailand has taken, we consider this part of the territory to be within the Thai border (the white line in the illustration), but Cambodia, which took the 1: 200,000 map, claims to be in Cambodia's territory, so there is a dispute.
3. There is a mutual agreement on MOU43 to be a disputed area that has not yet been concluded by both sides, but has been agreed to be a point of relief in trade and through the Thailand-Cambodia border.
4. Over the past 10 years, Cambodia has violated MOU43 by sending more than 400 households before the collision.
5. A monument was built that was a Cambodian warrior, riding a horse and turning the tip of the sword to the Thai side, demonstrating Cambodia's intention to occupy this area in the first place.

7. On July 28, 2025, just before the ceasefire at midnight, Thailand captured Cambodia's encroaching area to the red line as illustrated, but behind the red line from the market line onwards, it was still an area occupied by Cambodia.
While Army spokesman Major General Vindthai Suwari has come forward to clarify that the Saddle Channel case has been retaken by Thai soldiers, but has not yet been able to expel 100% of Cambodian soldiers from the area.
By military units in the area, the two sides agreed on a common practice:
- Arrange five officers each, sending five officers into joint areas / areas claimed by each party.
- No weapons are carried, all officers must refrain from carrying weapons while on mission.
- Together, the two parties patrol the area around the "Taum" monument and the neighborhood for 15 minutes at a time.
- No time limit in-and-out of the area for patrol missions at any time without time restrictions.
On July 30, 2025, the Cambodian army took military ambassadors from 13 countries to observe the area, so it was discovered that the monument area was also controlled by Thai soldiers.
