The other day I was talking to an old friend from one of my previous jobs. Good dude. Smart dude. But every time we talked, it seemed like he was stuck in the same cycle... different faces, different situations, same results.
After listening for a while, I finally said, "Bro, at some point you gotta stop calling it bad luck and start calling it a pattern."
He laughed, but I wasn't joking.
I told him, "God doesn't always send a billboard from Heaven saying, 'DON'T DO IT!' Most of the time He sends signs. Red flags. Repeated situations. That uneasy feeling in your spirit. Wise advice from people who love you. Closed doors that keep showing up for a reason."
The problem is, many of us pray the same prayer every day but ignore the same warning every day.
"Lord, help me make better decisions."
Then we run right back to the person, situation, habit, or mindset that got us in trouble the last 47 times. 😂
That's not faith. That's spiritual reruns.
It's like driving around a neighborhood looking for a parking spot while ignoring every "Road Closed" sign God put in front of you.
The Bible says God gives wisdom generously, but wisdom only works when we use it.
Sometimes the answer to your prayer isn't a miracle. Sometimes it's the lesson you keep repeating.
And if God keeps sending the same warning, maybe He's not trying to punish you. Maybe He's trying to protect you.
My friend got quiet after that.
Then he smiled and said, "Man... I think I've been praying for a breakthrough while ignoring the exit sign."
I said, "Exactly."
Because sometimes the biggest blessing isn't God opening a new door.
It's finally recognizing the signs He already put in front of the old one. 🙏🏾
