Is there an app that can spot a filter?

After my breakup, I finally worked up the nerve to dip my toes back into dating. I’ve been on a handful of dates now, and every single person is nothing like their profile pics. Don’t get me wrong, it’s them, but like if I’d put on a fancy pair of beer goggles to look at them. The filters are so crazy, I barely recognize them in person.

I’m totally transparent with my looks and who I am. So why do I feel like I’m getting bamboozled every time I meet someone? Is there actually an app out there that can spot a filter? Because I’m swearing off dating apps for good.

Last week, I met a guy whose pics made his look like he had this glow, turns out, it was just a filter that erased half his freckles and softened his features so much, I did a double take when he walked in. Who else is sick of filters messing up dating? How do you avoid the filter trap?

I hate when people use filters for every picture. I always act like a detective when I meet someone online. I first check their Facebook, Instagram, and/or LinkedIn to double check information and looks. This saves all the trouble of being surprised on a first date.

Instead of dating apps, join a few clubs, try getting out of the house and meeting more people. Start enjoying life and if you meet someone, cool. If you don’t meet anyone, you are still enjoying life.
