... Read morePreparing for college exams can feel overwhelming, especially when juggling additional challenges such as Tourette's syndrome. From my own experience, multiple-choice questions can be particularly tricky because they require not just knowledge but also focused decision-making under time pressure. I often found myself questioning every option, caught between what I remembered and second-guessing my instincts. It sometimes felt like my mind was racing in different directions, which made concentrating even harder. One thing that helped me was developing a strategy to manage the moments when tics or distractions seemed to take over. I learned to take brief pauses during the test, use deep breathing to calm my nerves, and remind myself that luck plays a role but so does my preparation. Accepting that some stress is normal actually made it easier to push through the harder questions. I also discovered that staying consistent with my study schedule before exams was key. Breaking the material into smaller chunks and focusing on one topic at a time helped reduce the sensation of everything being too much. Sharing my experiences with other students in similar situations, including those living with Tourette's, gave me a sense of community and reassurance. If you’re dealing with exams and a condition like Tourette's, remember that it's okay to find it insane or fun in unexpected ways. Finding what works for you—whether that’s creating a calm environment, practicing mindfulness, or developing unique study techniques—can make a significant difference in performance and peace of mind. Ultimately, it’s about balancing preparation with self-compassion.
