We love festivals and markets but after a long hot day, the last thing we want to do is tear everything down and pack it up in our car 😅
What’s your packing up hack after a long event?
Participating in festivals and markets can be incredibly rewarding, but the end of the day often brings the challenge of packing up efficiently. One of the biggest frustrations is the long, hot hours spent dismantling displays and loading everything back into your vehicle. Over the years, I've developed some packing hacks that have made this process much more manageable. First, organizing your booth setup to facilitate quick teardown is key. Use storage containers labeled by item type so you can quickly grab what needs packing without sorting through everything on site. Portable folding tables and collapsible racks also save a lot of time because they break down easily and stack compactly. Another tip is to keep frequently used tools and supplies in a separate, easy-to-access bag or box. Having items like tape, scissors, and zip ties handy speeds up packing considerably. It’s also helpful to designate a packing buddy if you’re working with a team—divide tasks like folding, packing merchandise, and loading. Don’t underestimate the power of pre-planning your packing routine before the event starts. Take note of which pieces go together and the order in which you'll pack them. This mental map will save you from chaos when you’re tired at the end of the day. Lastly, remember the emotional side of packing—after a long day, patience can run thin. Taking short breaks during teardown to hydrate and breathe can keep spirits high and prevent mistakes. The phrase from the image, "It's all fun and games until it's time for this," perfectly captures the universal vendor experience. By applying these hacks, that dreaded time can become more manageable and less stressful, allowing you to focus more on what you love—connecting with customers and growing your small business.
