Sometimes, when I'm just bored in the house, that's when creativity truly strikes! I love diving into my sketchbook and transforming ordinary moments or wild ideas into artistic drawings. My goal is always to create something that not only brings me joy but also might inspire others, perhaps even becoming a cool 'drawing on Pinterest' for someone else's mood board. Take, for instance, the cartoon family portrait. It started with a playful thought about someone in a 'MY TUMMY HURTS' shirt, surrounded by loved ones in a grassy outdoor setting. It's those little, relatable details that make a piece feel alive and unique. Or the cozy scene of a cartoon couple in a snowy landscape with a log cabin and a snowman – I often imagine the stories behind these characters, like the woman with dark hair clutching a small green alien plushie, adding a touch of whimsical personality. Creating characters is one of my favorite parts of artistic drawing. Whether it's a woman in a light blue hospital gown, still holding her comforting alien plushie, or a young woman with short dark hair, a nose ring, and a black hoodie, I aim to give them distinct personalities. I even love to imagine them in different outfits, from a black 'FLIPPIN THE' shirt to leopard print pants, showing their unique style. These little sartorial choices, even a simple cable-knit sweater on a young boy, can really define a character. If you're looking to start your own artistic drawing journey or want to make your sketches more 'Pinterest-worthy,' here are a few things I've learned: First, gather inspiration! Pinterest is a goldmine for 'drawing on Pinterest' ideas – search for color palettes, character poses, background elements, or even quirky fashion. I often create mood boards before starting a new piece. Second, don't be afraid to incorporate personal touches. That young boy sitting in the branches of a tree, or the woman with blue hair and headphones enjoying a snack outdoors from a 'Joffee' bag – these are all snippets of life or imagination that make the art uniquely yours. Finally, experiment with different styles and compositions, like portraying two cartoon women with flower stickers on their faces, or focusing on expressive upper body shots.
