My nightstand essentials for the mind +body 🍋 ✨ 🌝

I love self-care especially, the self-reflection aspect of it. So much so that I created my self-care brand ✨Coco + Tiaré✨, based off of my journey in incorporating micro-practices that helped me deal with my anxiety via mindfulness.

My favorite mindfulness exercise is the 5 senses grounding meditation. Here is a short explanation from the net:

“identifying 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste. By doing so, it helps shift your focus from anxiety-provoking thoughts to the present moment.”

After my last panic attack in 2022, I’ve used this practice almost daily. Now, I have stocked my nightstand with all the things that help calm my senses.

Here is my breakdown of the 54321 meditation and if you enjoy it definitely journal about it and try it for yourself:

😋Taste- I often keep my “Fanley” cup filled with cranberry water or a steaming cup of lavender Chamomile tea for relaxation. Sometimes popcorn too!

🌸Smell- I use my current favorite wax melt from my brand ✨Coco + Tiaré ✨ in my wax warmer. Right now “Wild Lotus Blossom” is that girl!! She’s sweet, floral, annnd it’s pink 😭🥰I also have a lavender scented cuticle oil that I use after my hand cream. Then my minty lip balm adds another layer to the equation.

🙉Hear- I don’t enjoy the sound of my noisy upstairs neighbors so I’m often listening to Spotify on my google home mini (on my other nightstand) or with my JLAB AirPods. I hope to get a record player soon and I can’t wait to share my collection thus far post ordering ☺️

🤲 Touch- Although most people enjoy digital reading and writing I’m still an analog girlie. The feeling of pen and paper and actually turning a page is one I enjoy. Especially when I have fluffy pillows and my favorite plushie Sully by my side. When I read, I like to highlight and take notes on stickies or in journals I get from Etsy creators. (If you know any good shops lmk). I also am starting to use my gratitude journal that I’ve decorated with pressed flowers from this year’s spring.

🧿 See- My decor features a lot of colors found in nature, light woods, and pops of warm golden yellow tones. Because of this I have tricked out my space with LED lights that change color and help me set the mood. I also am incorporating art pieces I recreated with family that bring up my spirits when I see them. (A room tour is coming soon🥳).

... Read moreCreating a calming nighttime routine is vital for mental well-being. Incorporating mindfulness exercises, such as the 5 senses grounding meditation, can significantly reduce anxiety. Start by focusing on your senses: identify five things you can see, four you can touch, three you hear, two you smell, and one you can taste. This practice helps you shift your focus from overwhelming feelings to the present moment. Consider stocking your nightstand with comforting items that promote relaxation. Essential oils or wax melts, like lavender or floral scents, can create a calming atmosphere. Experimenting with herbal teas, particularly chamomile or cranberry, can also foster relaxation before bedtime. Soundscapes or calming music from platforms like Spotify can help to further soothe your mind, blocking out distracting noises. For an enriching reading experience, choose books that resonate with your interests and feelings. Utilizing pen and paper for journaling can enhance the reflective aspect of self-care, allowing you to map out thoughts or track daily gratitude. Lastly, personalizing your space with comfortable textures, ambient lighting, and plants can increase a sense of peace and harmony in your room. By being intentional with your nightstand setup, you can craft a tranquil bedtime atmosphere that supports both mental clarity and emotional calm.
