I’ve often pondered how the ergosphere might open pathways to extract energy from black holes, as theorized by the Penrose process—where particles can gain energy by interacting with the rotating spacetime. This fascinating aspect shows how black holes are not passive; their rotation can have profound effects on their surroundings. Closer to the event horizon, things get even more bizarre. Time itself begins to unravel and distort beyond normal understanding. Although 'standing still' is impossible even in the ergosphere, near the event horizon, the fabric of time stretches and warps in such a way that traditional concepts of 'before' and 'after' become fuzzy.
