The power of great mercy.
✨ "In the Bodhisattva, who hears the voice of suffering, to release all animals into distress." ✨
When my eyes stopped on this Bodhisattva, inside a museum in Mumbai, the first feeling was not only the beauty of art, but the power of compassion around him.
He sat gracefully reclining on a stick of blue-green turquoise stone believed by the Himalayans to be the sacred stone of protection, like a symbol of nature and the universe. The golden body shone like the glory of the majesty. Whenever he looked at it, he would hear him say,
"We live to hear the suffering of all animals."
This is the heart of Avalokiteva - the Bodhisattva of the Great Mercy, who does not abandon the creatures of the world in distress, who is the power of hope, the refuge of the poor, and the light that brings the soul out of darkness.
The Bodhisattva is not just an ancient art, but a bridge of faith that connects people from the past to the present, reminding us that no matter how distressed life is, there is always compassion to hold.
