Mental Health Awareness 🫶

In the first photo I was 16 years old and in the second photo I’m 26. Does something odd stand out to you because I see it plain as day. In June of 2015, I had my first real panic attack, I was heading to New Orleans to meet up with my grandparents and I’d to fly by myself for the first time. This was the start of many years of panic attacks and being diagnosed with OCD and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I was so skinny because during my attacks I’d throw up. I’d pace, I’d shake. I would have horrible obsessive thoughts from OCD. It was rough, I thought it was never going to end. That I would have to stay up all night sick for the rest of my life, but I didn’t. It’s been many years since I’ve had an attack :3 thanks to the medication I’ve been taking and the therapy I went to, I can live a normal life. Being sick isn’t my normal anymore! I’m so happy! That’s why I believe mental health should be taken more seriously. It’s a problem many like me struggle with. #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #anxietylife

... Read moreLiving with mental health challenges like panic attacks, OCD, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder can be incredibly isolating and difficult. From my own experience, I understand how overwhelming it feels when those obsessive thoughts and physical symptoms take over your daily life. One thing that made a huge difference for me was embracing a multi-faceted approach: combining medication prescribed by a trusted psychiatrist with consistent therapy sessions that focused on coping strategies and understanding my triggers. It might sound daunting to start treatment, especially if you’re new to mental health struggles, but the progress is often gradual. Even though I faced many nights where anxiety kept me awake or panic attacks disrupted my routine, with time and professional help, those moments became less frequent and less intense. What helped me immensely was developing a daily routine that included mindfulness practices, regular exercise, and connecting openly with trusted friends or support groups about my experiences. Recognizing that mental health disorders are real and worthy of attention is key. Many people underestimate how seriously anxiety and OCD can impact one’s wellbeing. That’s why sharing stories, like my own journey from frequent panic attacks to years without an episode, can inspire others facing similar battles. It’s important to remember that feeling sick or trapped in anxiety is not your identity—you can reclaim your life and happiness with the right support. If you or someone you know struggles with mental health, don’t hesitate to seek professional advice. Early intervention is crucial, and countless resources and communities are available to help. Therapy, medications, and lifestyle changes aren’t just treatments; they are pathways to living a fuller, more peaceful life. Mental health matters, and raising awareness helps reduce stigma and encourages others to get the help they deserve.

Taking medication for mental health doesn’t make you weak. It means you’re strong enough to do what you need to take care of yourself. Just like you’d take medicine for your heart or your lungs, your mind deserves that same compassion and care. There’s no shame in needing help; there’s courage in r

Let’s talk about rapid cycling with bipolar disorder. Some of us shift moods in hours, others in days—and it can feel impossible to keep up with ourselves. If you’ve figured out your triggers, you’re already doing deep work. If you haven’t yet, you’re still doing great. This space is for honesty
