This the part that no one talks about because they don’t want to look like a bad mom but I will. ✨
Motherhood is hard. Not becuase it’s hard but because it’s you making it hard. All kids need is to be loved and to be fed but I spent the better beginning of the years trying to be 40 different versions of moms and I was getting worn out and I didn’t find it fulfilling. From the mom who baked and cooked extravagant meals, to the mom who had an orderly house and had my kids on a clock rotation, to the mom who was the outdoorsy mom who loved being in the sun.. I just couldn’t mold all the versions in one and still be me. There are some who can and hats off to them but I love being the mom who really tries her best and that’s it. If I can, I will and if I can’t I won’t. The secret sauce is not holding even myself to impossible standards that God did not create me with. Now I’m just me and I hope my kids learn from her.

Motherhood often comes with countless pressures and expectations, many of which we impose on ourselves. The journey described here resonates with so many moms who find themselves trying to fit into multiple roles — the perfect cook, the 'pinterest-worthy' organized housekeeper, or the adventurous outdoors mom — only to feel overwhelmed and drained. It's important to recognize that children need love and care first and foremost, not perfection. Recognizing this can be a turning point. Letting go of unattainable standards isn't about giving up; it's about embracing authenticity. When you stop comparing yourself to idealized versions of what a mom 'should' be and focus on simply doing your best, motherhood becomes more joyful and less stressful. One of the messages echoed in the popular TikTok mom communities (#momlife, #momsoftiktok) is about finding happiness by being true to yourself rather than striving to please others or meet unrealistic benchmarks. This mindset shift can improve mental health, strengthen family bonds, and model self-acceptance for children. Moreover, the quote from the images, "You look happier" and the response, "Thanks I actually started enjoying motherhood," highlights how embracing this reality positively impacts emotional wellbeing. Happiness in motherhood is less about external accomplishments and more about internal peace. If you’re feeling lost or exhausted trying to be everything, remember it’s okay to simplify your approach and focus on what truly matters: loving your children and caring for yourself. The real 'secret sauce' is self-compassion and authenticity, which ultimately teaches children valuable lessons about acceptance and resilience.
