this year I did the mud run with my mom and we were very nervous about the obstacles and how we might not be able to do them. But guys this was the most fun thing I did this summer and it wasn’t even close to being as hard as we thought. 10/10 I would recommend doing this. Even if you can’t do some of the obstacles, we saw some people just go around them. And no running is necessary. We ran for maybe 30 seconds then walked the rest of the way!

I saw so many amazing 'PINK ARMY 2024' outfits with vibrant pink tutus and feather boas, which totally inspired us to add some flair. My best advice? Wear something you don't mind getting absolutely covered in mud – and I mean *covered*! Old sneakers are a must, along with comfortable, quick-drying athletic wear that's snug but not restrictive. Don't forget sunscreen and maybe some fun heart-shaped sunglasses for those pre-run photos before you hit the first muddy water obstacle. Hydration is key too, even if you're planning to walk most of it like we did!
When we got there, I was still super nervous about all the mud girl obstacles. I kept imagining struggling with carrying sandbags or slipping on ropes. But honestly, the atmosphere at a women's mud run is incredibly supportive and festive. We saw people of all fitness levels, ages, and backgrounds. Some obstacles involved crawling through muddy water pits, others climbing over walls or nets, and yes, there was some carrying heavy objects involved, like those sandbags we tackled! What I loved most was the 'no pressure' vibe; if an obstacle felt too challenging or just not for you, you could simply go around it. No judgment, just encouragement from fellow participants and volunteers. This really made the whole experience accessible and enjoyable, even for first-timers like us who weren't looking to set any speed records.
The best part? Embracing being women covered in mud! At first, I was a bit hesitant about getting absolutely filthy, but once you're fully submerged in a muddy water obstacle, laughing with your teammates, you realize it's all part of the fun. We ended up looking like total mud monsters, which made for epic mud run photos and even better memories. It's truly a unique challenge that pushes you just enough without being overwhelming. Walking parts of the course was totally fine – it's not a race for most, it's an experience of camaraderie and personal triumph.
And the post-run celebration? Amazing! There's usually an area to rinse off (though you'll still find mud in unexpected places for days!), food trucks, and a great sense of community. Seeing everyone, from the 'PINK ARMY 2024' groups in their tutus to solo runners, all covered in mud but beaming with smiles, is infectious. If you're on the fence about signing up for a Mudgirl run or any women's mud run event, I say go for it! It's an incredible way to bond with friends or family, challenge yourself in a new way, and just let loose. The feeling of accomplishment when you cross that finish line, absolutely caked in mud, is something truly special. Seriously, you won't regret signing up for your own Mud Run 2024 adventure!
