A lot of people were surprised when I shared stats about unemployment rates in different majors, especially Construction Management.
And honestly, I get it.
Because the truth is: statistics show general trends, but they don’t define your personal journey.
Construction Management is still a strong and growing field.
Yes, some national sources (like BLS.gov) might show certain numbers about unemployment.
But those numbers don’t capture where you live, how you network, the certifications you get, the internships you pursue, or how you build your experience.
They don’t capture your drive.
If you’re a Construction Management major (or recent grad), you’re building something way bigger than a degree.
You’re building project management skills, leadership skills, technical skills, things that real companies are actively looking for.
Don’t let a stat discourage you.
Focus on sharpening your skills, getting certifications like OSHA or PMP, learning the latest tech tools (Procore, AutoCAD), and being willing to gain experience where the market is hot.
Your career will reflect what you put into it, not what a national report says.
And honestly, seeing so many people already working full time while still in school just proves that individual hustle always outweighs averages.
