First 22km Run!
REPOST! First post on my new running account 🤡
Commemorating the first time I’m running past the 21km mark!!
Running a HM still feels like such an achievement, but now that my full marathon training is kicking in, I’m going to routinely run further and faster :’)
If a skinny boi like me can do it, so can you.
Anyways, I’m already mentally prepping to run 23km this Saturday 🤡
Based on my experience running past 22km for the first time, I wanted to share some tips for those wondering if that distance is far or how to handle running alone, especially at night. Running 22km felt challenging but incredibly rewarding; pacing yourself is key. I found maintaining a conversational pace, like around 5:50 min/km, helped me conserve energy without feeling burnt out. About heart rates during long runs, I keep mine around 155 bpm, which felt sustainable for this distance, but listen to your body as everyone's comfort zones differ. Running alone at night can feel intimidating, but I make sure to stay in well-lit areas, wear reflective gear, and carry some form of identification for safety. Training beyond the half marathon distance gradually helps build both mental and physical endurance. It's normal to feel stitches or tired, but consistent practice and proper pacing make those milestones achievable. For anyone thinking 22km is too far, I promise it’s manageable with steady progress. Keep pushing your limits—your body adapts more than you expect!
