Changing my hair!! Read below

My hair is naturally red/ginger and I thought it would be cool if I dyed my hair black on the bottom!! I always wanted to do a sort of “fox dye” like you see on Pinterest and stuff. And I figured this would be a good first look at dyeing my hair since I’ve never done it before! I’m getting it done on Thursday, keep updated with all my platforms to get updates!!

If you're like me and curious about trying a bold split dye, especially for the first time, here are some things I've been learning and thinking about before my big hair color change. The 'fox dye' or split dye trend is just so captivating, isn't it? It’s all about creating a striking contrast, often with two distinct colors. For my natural red/ginger hair, adding black to the bottom will give it this edgy, almost fiery yet mysterious vibe. I've seen so many cool examples on Pinterest with ginger and blonde split dyes, or even dark brown hair transformations with lighter tips, but for me, the black contrast felt just right. It's a fantastic way to experiment with a dramatic change without committing to a full head of a new color. I've also seen some gorgeous blonde and dark ombré hair styles, but the crisp line of a split dye is what really caught my eye for my ginger hair. Since this is my first time dyeing my hair, I'm definitely relying on a professional. I've heard horror stories about 'haircuts gone wrong' or DIY dye jobs ending up uneven, especially with split dye styles that require precision. If you're a newbie too, I highly recommend finding a stylist who specializes in bold colors or split-dyed hair. They can assess your hair health – like whether your natural ginger hair can handle the process – and ensure the black tips come out perfectly, without damaging your natural color or causing 'fox hair reverse' where the colors bleed. Plus, they can do a patch test, which is super important to avoid any allergic reactions before the full application. It's all about ensuring a safe and stunning dark brown/black ends transformation on my long ginger hair. Once the dye is done, I know maintenance will be key to keeping those black tips looking fresh against my ginger. I’m planning to use color-safe shampoos and conditioners, and probably some heat protectant, because vibrant colored hair needs extra love. For those of you with natural hair color variations, or perhaps considering a 'ginger and blonde split' instead, remember that placement and how the colors blend (or don't blend, in a crisp split dye!) makes a huge difference. From what I’ve seen, whether it’s a subtle blonde and dark ombré or a sharp contrast like my black tips, the 'fox dye hair style' is all about making a statement. Before getting any dark brown hair color transformation or even just adding black ends, it’s a good idea to deep condition your hair. Healthy hair holds color better! I’m making sure my hair is in top shape, avoiding harsh styling, and just generally babying it before Thursday. I've been looking at pictures of 'ginger hair with black tips' and 'fox tip hairstyle' to be super clear with my stylist about the exact look I want. It’s exciting to think about how this will transform my overall look! I really hope my split-dyed hair turns out amazing. I can't wait to share the final result! It’s a big step for my hair, and I hope my experience can help or inspire others looking for a bold 'hair color change idea.' Stay tuned for the updates on my split-dyed hair journey!

Dark mahogany brown would look so good at the ends. Black might be too flat.
