Love is our greatest responsibility in life.
Love is our greatest responsibility in life. Jesus made it very clear to His disciples that loving God and loving others are the two greatest commandments. But the basis for all of this is the love of God through Jesus.
As I slept last night I heard John 3:16 when I woke this morning the verse of the day was 1 John 4:9 For God showed his love amongst us he sent his one and only son into the world that we might live through him.. I am in awe this is comforting to know that I hear God even while resting. His word in John 10:27 says my sheep knows my voice and I know them and they follow me… As I proceeded to continue reading the verse of the day a revelation was downloaded into me 🥹
A Reflection on 1 John 4:9
There is a question that often echoes through the world: "Why would a Father give His only Son?" For many, it remains a mystery or a stumbling block. But when you look through the lens of 1 John 4:9, the answer isn't a complex calculation—it is the purest definition of love.
The Heart of the Father
God did not send Jesus because He was indifferent to the cost; He sent Him because He was consumed by a desire for reconciliation. By giving His Son, God gave of Himself. He knew the pain of the sacrifice, but He also knew the joy of the reunion. In that one act, He proved that there is no distance He won’t travel and no price He won’t pay to bring us back into His presence.
The Way: Jesus as our Great High Priest
Before Christ, there was a veil—a separation caused by the weight of human imperfection. We needed a mediator, a priest to speak to God on our behalf. But Jesus changed the architecture of our faith:
• The Representation: Jesus came as the visible image of the invisible God. To see His heart for the broken was to see the Father’s heart.
• The Access: Through His sacrifice, the veil was torn. We no longer stand outside the gates waiting for a representative. Because of Jesus, we are invited directly into the "Throne of Grace."
• The Only Way: He is the bridge over the chasm of sin. He is the reason we can step into a "prayer closet" and know, with absolute certainty, that the Creator of the Universe is listening.
The Breath of God: The Holy Spirit
The beauty of this revelation is that God didn't just open the door and leave us to find our own way. He gave us the Holy Spirit.
• The Divine Connection: While Jesus is our Way to the Father, the Holy Spirit is God’s presence within us.
• The Direct Line: This is why we can hear Him speak. The Spirit translates our deepest groans and whispers, guiding us into all truth and confirming in our hearts that we are truly His children.
