Currently Reading (January 2026)

I am taking a break from the TOG tandem. I got myself two physical books to read and then I’ll finish the Tandem (I promise) and then I’m buying the last book physically of the TOG series.

So far I’m about 40 pages into the book and I’m hooked! It will be going with me everywhere in the house! (Kindle is for travel and not having a torn or bent paperback… I’ve considered taking the book with me but I need a carrying case for it first…)

Loving the book and can’t wait read it later tonight!

... Read moreAs an avid reader who treasures both physical books and digital formats, I recently decided to switch things up by taking a break from my usual use of the TOG Tandem e-reader and immerse myself in a couple of physical copies instead. One of the standout picks is Brynne Weaver’s 'Ruinous He,' a remarkable novel blending dark fantasy elements with intense romance and a thrilling serial killer storyline. What I love most about this book is its ability to pull me in from the very first pages—around 40 pages in, and I’m completely hooked. There’s something incredibly satisfying about holding a beautifully printed paperback, especially a special edition like the Serial Killer edition focusing on Butcher & Blackbird, which adds a tangible connection to the story that a Kindle just can’t replicate. I find myself taking the book with me around the house, savoring quiet moments to read and letting the dark romance and eerie suspense envelop me. However, one practical challenge has been protecting the book during travel or daily use. I’ve been actively searching for the perfect carrying case to prevent wear and tear—a must-have for any dedicated physical book lover who wants to keep their copies in pristine condition. For fans of dark fantasy romance and suspenseful serial killer tales, this book is an absolute gem. The blend of gothic intrigue and complex characters keeps the pages turning, and it’s been a refreshing change from my digital reading routine. Plus, investing in the final book of the TOG series physically feels like a rewarding way to complete my collection. If you’re considering trying physical books alongside your Kindle, especially in the fantasy and thriller genres, I highly recommend finding a reliable protective case. It’s a small accessory that makes a big difference, preserving your books as you explore each captivating world. Ultimately, this reading experience has reminded me that sometimes stepping away from screens and holding a beautifully crafted book can renew your love for reading in unexpected ways.
