switched from ChatGPT to Claude mid-build | Here’s the honest reason why 🪺

Not a benchmark comparison. A real build session that made the difference clear — and an honest take on when to use each one.

🪺 What kept happening with ChatGPT

Long build session. Complex app. Halfway through — it forgot what we were building.

Back to the top. Re-explain the whole context. Again.

Every time the AI forgets, you pay the time tax. And if you're building something real, that adds up fast.

🪺 What Claude did differently

Same session. Same complexity. It held the thread.

Remembered the decisions we'd already made — and built on them instead of resetting. That one thing changed how I work.

🪺 The honest ChatGPT take

To be fair: ChatGPT is still better for some things.

Image generation. Voice mode. Browsing. If your work is visual or multimodal, it's the stronger single tool. I still use it for those — no apology.

🪺 Where Claude wins

If you're building something — writing, coding, thinking through a problem — Claude is the better collaborator.

Follows complex instructions. Pushes back when something doesn't make sense. Doesn't drift.

🪺 The real answer

You're not choosing a religion. You're choosing a tool for a job.

I build with Claude. I generate images with ChatGPT. The migrators who do best use both — on purpose.

Which one are you building with? Drop it below 🍋

Sundays — prompts. Wednesdays — builds. 🪺

... Read moreIn my experience building complex projects, especially with AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT, context retention is key. During a long build session, ChatGPT would often lose track of what I was working on, forcing me to constantly re-explain the entire context. This 'time tax' not only added frustration but slowed my progress significantly. In contrast, Claude held the thread throughout the session, remembering previous decisions and building on them seamlessly. This difference changed how I collaborate with AI. Claude excels when the task involves multi-step reasoning, coding, or writing with complex instructions because it maintains focus and pushes back when something doesn’t make sense. This makes Claude feel more like a true collaborator rather than a simple assistant. However, ChatGPT remains unmatched for multimodal tasks such as image generation, voice interaction, and browsing. I continue to rely on ChatGPT for visuals and exploratory tasks where flexibility and creativity are paramount. The best workflow I’ve found is using both tools intentionally—building detailed projects with Claude and generating creative media with ChatGPT. For anyone working with AI, it’s important to recognize that no single tool fits all needs. Instead of religiously sticking to one, adopting a dual-tool approach can optimize productivity and creativity. Switching between Claude and ChatGPT based on the task at hand has saved me time and improved the quality of my outputs. If you’re building, coding, or problem-solving, give Claude a try to see how it keeps your ideas connected throughout long sessions. For creative or visual tasks, ChatGPT is still top choice. Feel free to experiment with both and find your own balance. The goal is to pick the right AI for the job, not to choose sides. What’s your experience with these tools? Sharing your workflow could help others find the perfect AI mix for their needs.
