SWEET CHICK 🐔
My friend Destiny took me out for my bday 🙈. My birthday is 08/06, I didn’t plan anything so this is what she did for me ! We had a brunch date at Sweet Chick. It was my first time and I would definitely return again. I ordered the shrimp and grits. I never really had grits before the right way. I was eager to try it and I fell in love. I see why people love grits ! It was so buttery, creamy and mostly smooth. It reminded me of mashed potatoes. With a nice savory sauce that is accompanied by a light taste of peppers. I really enjoyed. Destiny said her food was good but the waffles did go soft because of the apple filling. Definitely going again 👌🏾.

Walking into Sweet Chick, you immediately get a sense of its cozy, yet vibrant atmosphere. From the exterior with its distinctive green awning, to the interior's rustic-chic decor and bustling counter area visible in the pictures, it feels like a true Southern comfort food haven right in the heart of NYC. It's definitely a spot for 'Foodie FINDS' as one of the images suggests, blending a relaxed vibe with seriously good food. While my friend and I focused on our mains, I have to talk more about those shrimp and grits! Beyond just being buttery and smooth like mashed potatoes, the quality of the shrimp truly stood out – perfectly cooked and seasoned. The savory sauce, with its subtle hint of peppers, tied everything together, making each bite incredibly satisfying. It’s a dish that truly embodies comfort and flavor, and it’s clear why it’s a fan favorite that I'd definitely order again. The close-up photo of the light-colored bowl filled with shrimp and grits really captures how delicious it looks in person. Now, about the chicken and waffles. My friend's experience with the apple filling softening the waffle is a common point of discussion. While the fried chicken pieces themselves are usually crispy and well-seasoned (as seen in the takeout box image), getting the waffle texture just right with a fruit topping can be tricky. For those who prefer a classic crisp, maybe ask for the apple filling on the side, or opt for a simple syrup. The large menu board visible in the interior shot shows various options, so there's always something to suit different tastes and preferences. If you’re planning your own Sweet Chick NYC brunch, a few tips from my visit: It can get busy, especially on weekends, so coming early or making a reservation is a good idea to avoid a long wait. Their branded plastic cups often hold some fantastic drinks, whether it’s a mimosa or another refreshing beverage to go with your meal. Beyond the specific dishes we tried, Sweet Chick is also known for its other Southern-inspired brunch classics like biscuits and gravy, and various egg dishes. It's perfect for a celebratory meal, a casual catch-up, or just satisfying a craving for some delicious comfort food. It truly offers a memorable dining experience that leaves you wanting to come back for more of those delightful flavors!
