We live in a world that often asks:
"What can I gain?"
"What can I keep?"
"What do I deserve?"
But love has always asked a different question:
"What can I give?"
Many people think love is a feeling.
A moment.
A grand gesture.
But perhaps love is much quieter than that.
Perhaps love is patience when frustration would be easier.
Perhaps love is listening when you would rather speak.
Perhaps love is choosing compassion when judgment feels justified.
Kindness is often mistaken for weakness because it does not shout.
It does not demand attention.
It does not keep score.
Yet kindness has carried burdens no force could lift.
A kind word has restored weary hearts.
A small act has changed someone's difficult day.
A gentle hand has reminded people they were not forgotten.
The world does not become colder only because of hatred.
Sometimes it becomes colder because too many people are occupied only with themselves.
But every one of us carries the ability to warm it again.
Not by changing everyone.
But by changing how we show up.
Because true love is not merely asking, "Who is taking care of me?"
It also asks:
"Whose burden can I help carry today?"
At the end of life, we may not remember every success we achieved.
But we often remember the people who made us feel seen.
And the people we chose to see.
What is one small act of kindness someone showed you that you still remember today?
