The noodles themselves are what I'd describe as 'thick and round' Hokkien-style noodles, which I actually really enjoy. They have a nice chewiness to them that holds up well. But back to the flavor – if you're like me and craving that authentic, nutty peanut satay taste, you might find yourself wanting more. The sauce, which is a dark brown, definitely has strong umami notes from the soy, and a distinct punch of garlic. It's not bad by any means; it's just not what I'd consider a dominant peanut profile. I think it leans more towards a general savory Asian noodle sauce with a hint of peanut. Perhaps that's why some of us are getting more of the soy and garlic! So, what's a noodle lover to do if they want that peanut kick? I've found a few tricks to elevate these Annie Chun's noodles to better match my peanut satay expectations.
