大阪のあべのハルカスで開催されている古代エジプト特別展は、ブルックリン博物館の貴重なコレクションを集めた注目スポットです。私も娘と訪れ、特に印象的だったのはミイラ作りの工程に関する展示と、それにまつわる会話でした。ミイラの脳を鼻から取り出す作業は、当時脳を鼻水を作る器官と誤解していたことに由来し、古代の知識の面白さや人間の理解の歴史を感じさせます。 展示は3つのステージに分かれており、日常生活の謎解き、ファラオたちの真の姿の解明、そして死後の世界について掘り下げられています。特にファラオの権力や死生観は、古代エジプト文明の深さと独自性を強く感じさせてくれるテーマ。カノポス壺も実物を見ることができ、ジャッカルやハヤブサなど、4柱の神が守る臓器の防腐処理について学べます。こうした具体的な展示を通じて、古代人の宗教観や日常感覚に触れられ、展覧会は知識だけでなく感情も刺激してくれました。 また、私が娘と交わした会話のように、子どもたちが新しい知識を吸収し、それについて話し合う場にもなり得ます。単なる歴史展示ではなく、参加者自身の体験や気づきを育む魅力があると実感しました。この春休みやGWのお出かけに、ぜひ気軽に歴史の謎を体感してほしいと思います。
