my traumatic birth story at 19 🙂↕️
the emergency c section & epidural i had to take permanently changed my life 🥲 but here's my birth experience at kkh ~
at my 38weeks checkup the dr said that my baby was already weighing 3.2kg and that if she stayed inside any longer it would be difficult to have a natural birth so she recommended that we induce instead :) i agreed as i was already dying inside from waiting 😬
on the day of admission when they checked me in and put the iv in i was already 3cm dilated so they moved me to the labour room to wait it out.. but i was stuck there for about 12-13 hours waiting.. as my baby was really stubborn and didn't want to come out haha
timestamps
1 pm - checked into ward + iv in
3 pm- broke water bag to "get things moving"
3 30 pm? - moved to labour room to wait it out
5 pm - only got 1cm more dilated..
7 pm- 5 cm dilated and asked for epidural
10 pm- epidural in!
2-3 am - baby in distress as water bag was burst for 12 hours already at that point
5 am- was forced into emergency c section after really waiting it out
6 am- started operation
6 30 am- baby was out first
7 am - end of operation for me
as u can see from the timeline above it wasn't a good time.. stuck in the same bed for 12-13 hours + they didn't let me walk around or do anything myself even using the toliet i had to do it there... + couldn't eat or drink anything 🥲 and when my baby was in distress i was also so scared but i wanted a natural birth at all cost so i hang on..
then when they told me i had no other choice and had to do a emergency c section i couldn't accept it and even puked all over myself right before they wheeled me into the operating room🤢 bad choice btw .. i stinked hahah right before they stripped me for the operation... also they upped my dose of epidural until i couldn't feel anything from my chest down and thats how they did the operation.. with me wide awake and that was the worst part.. seeing them talk about body parts and holding the knife even though they had a screen to block my view.. i could feel them pulling my baby out from me and at that moment i felt my chest get pulled too its a very scary sensation.. i wish i wasnt awake for that but they didn't let me be under general anesthetic as they said it was dangerous for baby.. but anyways i thugged it out lol and they finally pulled the baby out ! they counted baby's toes and fingers for me but i couldn't really see my baby properly .. why ? because i had a high fever the entire time during the operation and the nurse ignored me when i said my head was on fire.. right my baby ended up also having a high fever once she came out and we both had to be isolated to recover.. so when i finally got to hold her and see her it was like 9/10 am when i finally had my fever down..
when i finally held my baby it felt so surreal but at that moment i knew that this is what makes life worth living for 🤍 and that began my journey of motherhood🤧
also my baby came out healthy and great 😆 she had double chin lol from day 1 cuz she was rlly chonks inside my belly 😭 she came out weighing 3.5 KG and 51 cm tall whew no wonder i couldn't push her out hahahaah
