Support yourself
I have been working really hard to achieve my goals and do well with my main job and my side hustle. I had a family member call me the other day just to tell me I was waisting my time doing my side hustle and I wouldn’t achieve anything with it. That to me was a low blow. Family is suppose to support family right!? I cried for a bit but then got back up and realized that just because they didn’t succeed doing it doesn’t mean I won’t. I will support myself because I am the only person I can depend on!!! #helpingmyself #helpmethroughthejourney
I’ve personally learned that supporting yourself is the foundation of long-term success, especially when faced with skepticism or negativity from those closest to us. It’s natural to feel hurt when family members doubt your efforts or call them a waste of time, but what really matters is recognizing that your journey is unique. Taking care of your emotional health and embracing self-love can transform how you approach challenges. When I remind myself that I am a priority and that my health and healing matter, it empowers me to keep moving forward despite setbacks. This mindset shift is vital, especially when balancing a main job and a side hustle. Another helpful strategy is setting clear, achievable goals and celebrating small wins along the way. This builds confidence and provides tangible proof that your side hustle is progressing. Keep in mind that success rarely looks the same for everyone, so comparing yourself to others—even family—is often unhelpful. I also found that connecting with supportive communities or people who understand your ambitions can be a game-changer. Online forums or social media groups dedicated to side hustlers and personal growth can provide encouragement and valuable advice when family support is lacking. Ultimately, relying on yourself doesn't mean isolating; it means trusting your abilities and being your own biggest cheerleader. Remember to practice patience and kindness with yourself throughout this process. Your belief in your own potential is one of the greatest assets you can have on your path to achieving your dreams.
