I had to change
Starting the year often brings a natural opportunity for self-reflection and transformation. I’ve noticed that when the calendar flips to a new year, it almost acts as a reset button for many of us — including myself. This timing provides mental space to evaluate what’s working and what isn’t in our lives. For me, the phrase “I had to change” perfectly captures the emotional and psychological shift I needed to embrace. Change is rarely easy; it can come with uncertainty and discomfort. But the beginning of the year encourages a mindset where this discomfort is part of growing into better versions of ourselves. I often set intentions around personal growth, such as improving my habits, relationships, or mindset during this period. One thing I found helpful is breaking down big changes into smaller, manageable steps. Instead of overwhelming myself with drastic resolutions, I focus on incremental progress. This approach keeps motivation high and reduces the pressure that can sometimes sabotage change efforts. Another insight is that change is rarely linear. The key is consistency and returning to your goals gently, even when setbacks occur.
