私は以前、長期間入院していた時に、ふと家の外で顔を出した一匹の野良猫に出会いました。その時はコロナ禍で面会もできず、精神的に孤独を感じていたので、その猫がまるで私の魂が戻ってきたかのように感じられました。妹がつけた「大福」という名前から、私たち家族は愛着を持ち始め、その猫はいつしか「だいちゃん」と呼ばれるようになりました。 だいちゃんは、体が大きくてお腹も丸々としており、地域の皆さんにも可愛がられている様子で、雨の日も雪の日も暑い日も食べ物を求めてブラリと顔を出します。好きな食べ物はハムやコロッケ、トンカツ、まぐろで、食べ終わると素早くお気 に入りの場所に帰っていく姿が印象的です。 私が退院してからも毎日通ってきてくれるので、私はいつもハムを常備しています。飼い猫ではなく“通い猫”として家族の一員のように接しています。こうした通い猫との関係は、ペットとしての責任を持つ飼い猫とは違い、自由気ままな彼らの個性を尊重しながら共に過ごす新しい形だと感じています。 また、地域の方々が美味しい食べ物を分け合う様子からは、野良猫への温かな愛情とコミュニティの絆を感じることができます。野良猫を通じて家族や地域との繋がりが深まる体験は、私自身の回復期間にも大きな支えになりました。この３年間、だいちゃんのおかげで多くの癒しと喜びをもらっています。
