“Protect your peace. Not everything is from God 🤍

Not everything that feels good is from God… and not everything that feels uncomfortable is wrong. Discernment is learning to pause, pray, and listen beyond your emotions. It’s choosing peace over pressure, clarity over confusion, and God’s direction over your own understanding. Protect your spirit, not everything is meant for you 🤍

It’s easy to mistake feelings for divine guidance, especially when something feels good initially. However, discernment teaches us to slow down, pray, and evaluate what aligns with God’s will instead of relying solely on momentary emotions. One practical way I apply this is by reflecting on scriptures like 1 John 4:1 which reminds us not to believe every spirit but to test them. This helps me understand that distractions or pressure often are signs that something might not be from God. Instead of rushing into decisions, I pause and seek clarity through prayer, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide me. I also find comfort in verses such as 1 Corinthians 14:33, which says God is a God of peace, not confusion. When I experience turmoil around certain choices or situations, I consider this a signal to step back and realign my thoughts with God’s peace. This practice has led me to avoid stress-inducing commitments and focus on what truly nurtures my spirit. Moreover, spiritual discernment is not about fear or overthinking but about growing in wisdom, as stated in Hebrews 5:14. Just like physical senses can be trained, so can we train our spiritual senses by spending more time in fellowship with God. I often ask for wisdom, reflecting on James 1:5's promise that God will generously provide it when sought. In summary, protecting your peace through spiritual discernment means actively choosing God’s guidance over emotional impulses. It means recognizing that not everything that feels right is from God and that sometimes uncomfortable feelings can be a prompt to seek deeper understanding. By embracing this mindset, I have found greater clarity, less confusion, and a spirit more aligned with God’s will.
