From my personal experience, one of the most helpful ways to combat these is through mindfulness and grounding techniques. Whenever I found myself repeating phrases like "Get out of my head!" or feeling overwhelmed with thoughts like "HOLII GET OUT OF MY," I tried to pause and acknowledge the thought without judgment. Instead of fighting it directly, I focused on my breathing and the present moment. This shift often helped reduce the power those thoughts had over me. Another approach is creative expression — writing, drawing, or even performing ventriloquism (funny enough, like VentriloquistVikki’s style) can help externalize those intrusive messages and create distance from them. It becomes less about the thoughts controlling you and more about you controlling the engagement with them. Understanding triggers is also crucial. Identifying situations or stressors that prompt intrusive thoughts can allow you to prepare and develop coping mechanisms beforehand. This proactive mindset reduced anxiety and made those mental intrusions less frequent and less intense. Finally, seeking support from mental health professionals or supportive communities can provide additional tools and reassurance. Remember, intrusive thoughts are a common experience, and there are many techniques available to help you regain control of your mind.
