Number 2 is THE most important. If you don’t want to follow no. 2, in my opinion you shouldn’t be going at all.
But I recommend that you don’t make ANY of these mistakes when you travel to Santorini. #santorini #santorini🇬🇷 #europeansummer
Traveling to Santorini offers an unforgettable experience, but preparation is key to making the most of your trip. One of the biggest challenges I faced was underestimating how physically demanding the island can be. Santorini's terrain is filled with steep stairs and uneven paths, so wearing supportive, comfortable shoes is absolutely essential. I made the mistake of bringing unsupportive footwear, which left my ankles sore and slowed me down during sightseeing. Another important aspect is respecting the local culture and rules. Santorini is filled with beautiful churches and historic spots, but it's crucial not to trespass or climb on rooftops for photos. There are many signs reminding visitors to be respectful, and ignoring these not only disrespects local traditions but can also lead to fines or being asked to leave. Lastly, don’t limit your visit to just the popular villages like Oia or Fira. Santorini is an island with diverse areas worthy of exploration, from volcanic beaches to quaint inland villages. Renting a scooter or taking local tours can open up a different perspective of the island, allowing you to enjoy its natural beauty and quieter spots. From my personal experience, allocating time to explore beyond the well-known tourist centers made my trip much richer and more memorable. In summary, smart packing, cultural respect, and an adventurous spirit to explore beyond the beaten path will help you avoid common mistakes and fully enjoy all that Santorini has to offer.
