How I take notes, study,etc.
As a huge K-pop fan, I’ve been trying to find ways into weaving K-pop into my studying and I found the best way, (for me at least). And I’m going to share it with you.
1.) I start by getting all the items I need for my classes. This semester, I’m taking my classes online so I have a laptop that I borrow from the college. Since my classes are online I use my iPad to take notes. I specifically have the iPad 10th generation in blue with the first generation Apple Pencil. When I need to make an outline for essays or other assignments, I have a notebook and pencil as well.
2.) I set up my notes/ the title of my notes. I normally try to pick a font that I really like and will grab my attention when I need to find a specific lecture. I use the app Kilonotes to take my notes and I have a folder for just my courses. I normally try to have different fonts for each subject. My current favorites are: VanillaCake, Pleasewritemeasong, Honeybee, and CreamShoes. There are two ways I take notes.
3.) Video lectures: Since the video lectures are PowerPoints, I will take notes while watching/listening. I know people are going to have different views on it, and taking notes like this might help them while it might not for others. For me it works that way as I’ve managed to get A’s taking notes on video lectures this way and studying.
4.) Text only lectures and textbook notes: I take these notes differently. Since there is no audio for me to listen to, it makes it a little bit difficult for me to give all my attention to. When I am taking notes on textbook chapters or text lectures, I listen to my K-pop study playlist that I will explain more about next.
5.) I used Spotify’s AI curated playlist to make my K-pop study playlist since I really wanted/needed one, but wasn’t entirely sure which songs to add. Do not get confused, the AI did not create any songs, it just created a playlist of songs already existing. When I say that this playlist has improved my studying, I mean it. Two weeks ago, I listened to the playlist on loop while writing an essay which took me 2-3 hours to complete. I’m a huge procrastinator, so without the playlist it probably would have taken me three days (which is sad because it was a 1,000 word essay but with playlist, I wrote almost 1,600 words)
6.) I cannot stress how much I love lifeat.io. I found out about it somewhat recently and fell in love with it. There are many spaces to choose from to help you study. You can choose to study with enhypen,blackpink, bts, twice, and more. If you love animal crossing, there are study spaces for that as well. If you love 5 seconds of summer like I do, there is a study space for them. You can choose to have the space’s original sound or other sounds such as rain, a fireplace, a cafe, etc. If you need to set a timer, you can set one on lifeat.
7.) Drafting essays and other assignments: I find it easier to take notes on my iPad than making outlines. When I need to create an outline or draft for my essays and other assignments, I use a notebook and mechanical pencil. Depending on how far I’m into the assignment, I either do bullet points or fully fleshed out chunks of information I need and/or have. As much as I love writing on my iPad, I still love writing in a notebook. It might be because I have taken physical notes much longer than I have digital notes, but I love the sound of the pencil writing on paper and the feel of the paper.

Have you ever tried using K-pop lyrics for language practice? If you're studying a language, translating your favorite songs can be a fun, engaging way to learn vocabulary and grammar. Another trick is to use K-pop aesthetics to motivate you. Set your desktop background to your bias, or find K-pop themed study planners online.
