What I packed!!

2025/8/29 Edited to

... Read moreWe've all been there, right? That moment you arrive at your destination, lugging a huge suitcase, only to realize you've used half of what you packed. My last 7-day vacation was a prime example of what I overpacked, and it taught me some serious lessons about efficiency! If you're wondering how to pack light for 7 days, trust me, I've gone from overpacker to a pro at minimalist travel, and I'm here to share my newfound wisdom. First off, the golden rule: lay everything out. Before you even think about putting anything in your bag, spread out every single item you think you need. This visual exercise is a game-changer. You'll quickly spot duplicates or things you can definitely live without. For a 7-day trip, think about creating a capsule wardrobe. This means selecting versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched to create multiple outfits. Stick to neutral colors with one or two accent pieces. For instance, I’ll pack 2-3 bottoms (jeans, versatile skirt/shorts), 3-4 tops (basic tees, a nice blouse), and one light jacket or cardigan that goes with everything. This dramatically cuts down on clothing bulk without sacrificing style. Next, consider your destination and the weather. This sounds obvious, but how many times have we packed for every possible scenario? For a 7-day vacation, check the forecast a few days before you leave and pack accordingly. Don't bring a heavy coat if it’s going to be 80 degrees, just a light rain jacket if there's a chance of showers. When it comes to toiletries, travel-sized everything is your best friend. Even better, decant your favorite products into reusable mini bottles. You only need enough for seven days, not a full-sized bottle that will weigh you down. And speaking of weight, footwear is a big culprit! Limit yourself to 2-3 pairs: the comfortable shoes you wear on the plane, a versatile casual pair, and perhaps one dressier option if your itinerary demands it. Seriously, that’s all you need. Now, for some smart packing techniques. Instead of folding, try rolling your clothes tightly. This can save a surprising amount of space and minimize wrinkles. Packing cubes are another lifesaver – they compress your clothes and keep everything organized, making it easy to find what you need without rummaging through your whole bag. Lastly, always wear your bulkiest items on the plane. Your heaviest shoes, jacket, or a chunky sweater can take up significant space in your luggage, so wear them to free up room. After my experience of overpacking for my last 7-day vacation, I've learned that truly packing light isn't about deprivation, but about smart choices, organization, and embracing the freedom that comes with less luggage. Happy travels!

Protein-Packed Sweet Potato Bowl
Cottage cheese is having its moment, again, but along side ground beef and sweet potato. This is my take on its and its so good. This clocks in at 450 calories, 40 grams protein, and 33 net carbs. If you are watching carbs closely, you can do it with spaghetti squash, eggplant, or even zucchini
